I attempted to cook my favorite Filipino food which is miki soup. I'm sad to say that it was a failed attempt. What I did wrong is that I forgot to cook the noodles first until it's the 'perfect' texture - soft and edible. Instead, I add the soup base (water, acheute, chicken broth) before even cooking the noodles. I reveresed the process. What a big mistake! After 20 minutes of cooking, the soup base has this gooey, thick consistency, whereas the noodles were barely soft. Gosh, I wasted ingredients. Because of that failed attempt, I do not want to try cooking miki for awhile. I fear that I will waste ingredients again. Maybe I should not use achuete as part of the ingredients? I only know how to create two food dishes which are Filipino style spaghetti and japchae (Korean glass noodles). You see that these two dishes are noodles? It's because I lo-lo-love noodles! I almost eat noodles everyday. Overall, I don't think cooking/baking is my expertise (laughing at myself).

It is ok to make mistakes as long as you try. Don't give up because now that you know what you did wrong, you will not make the same mistake anymore!!! Next time you try to make that dish it will be done better. I know how you feel. I alaways get disappointed whenever I make a dish wrong. But, the next time that I make it the dish is always better. That is why my go to dishes are almost flawless now!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's okay to make mistakes in your life because that way you've learn from your mistakes and do better the next time. I myself also LOVE noodles, I would eat them everyday if I wanted to. I also love Japchae, your blog is making me hungry just thinking about it. If you love noodles you should try get some ramen at Goma Tei!!
ReplyDeleteI love to cooked MIKI especially in the rainy days...I usually put oil on pan, sautee the garlic, then add shredded or cut chicken breast, cooked until chicken is little brown, after that, I add the acheute, then add chicken broth and when it boils I add the noodles until noodles is cooked. ;-)
