My mom will be retiring from her job on the last day of this month. She will be holding a small party in her workplace on that day. Sadly, I won't be able to join the party because I have classes during the hours it will run. When she first told me that the party will be 'next Monday', I though she meant on the 24th where Spring Break falls. I was excited but then plans were shattered when she told me the date of the party. There will be food worth almost $400 and they were all good choices picked by my mom. And I won't get the chance to eat any of the food since those attending will most likely eat and bring home food. Plus, there will be home-cooked miki, which is my favorite Filipino food prepared by my aunty. Well, this is my mom's retirement party after 20 years on the job, and I won't be there to attend :(

  1. That sucks! I would feel the same if my mom retired and I wasn't able to attend. But, one way to make it better is maybe you could do a dinner just the two of you. It will make her happy and you will also be able to do a mini celebration with her still yet.

  2. I'm sorry that you won't be able to attend your mother's momentous moment but as long as you call her or video chat her your feelings, she'd totally understand! Congratulations on her successful retiring!

  3. I love your music! Chinese music is so nice to listen to! ^ ^

Too bad you cannot attend it though. Are your classes required? I mean I personally have never ditched a class, but for such a momentous moment...
What would you want to remember?
One class, or your mom's leaving of a 20-year job?

If you could, try to talk to your professor over this Spring break. I'm sure he/she can make an exception or make the consequences less severe.

If you need someone to talk to you about this, email me! (awl78@hawaii.edu).
